Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

MTSS is a framework of integrated, multi-tiered system of instruction, assessment, and intervention designed to meet the achievement and behavioral needs of all learners.  The MTSS framework promotes school improvement through engaging, evidenced-based academic and behavioral practices that utilize data-driven problem solving to maximize growth for all students.

MTSS typically involves 3 components: Response to Intervention (RTI) for academic interventions, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) for behavioral interventions, and the Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) to regulate the decision-making process for students with more intensive needs.
